New Goddard Partnership with Food First!

Screen Shot 2016-01-27 at 1.42.27 PMThe Undergraduate Program is thrilled to announce that current Goddard students can now receive academic credit (up to 3 undergraduate credits) for ten-day Food Sovereignty Tours (FST) organized by Food First.

Participants can experience local food systems and the food sovereignty movement first-hand, with critical reflection and writing.

The educational tours take place over ten-day periods in host countries that include, among other places, Cuba and the Basque region in northern Spain.

Prospective Goddard students can also benefit from this new partnership. If you have participated in a Food Sovereignty Tour, Goddard College will offer a $1,000 Partnership Grant to FST alumni who enroll in an undergraduate program at Goddard College.  FST alumni who completed their tour prior to January, 2016 will be able to receive academic credit for their travel and learning upon matriculation into Goddard College.

Food First is a “people’s think tank” dedicated to ending the injustices that cause hunger and helping communities to take back control of their food systems. Food First advances its mission through three interrelated work areas: research, education and action. These work areas are designed to promote informed citizen engagement with the institutions and policies that control our food and to integrate local, national and global efforts. Food First’s work both informs and amplifies the voices of social movements fighting for food justice and food sovereignty.
