Alumni Gathering Session Proposals

Hey there fellow MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts alumni,

Alumnus Tyson Pease
Alumnus Tyson Pease

I’m Tyson, a 2015 graduate with specialties in comics / illustration and creative facilitation. I’ve happily accepted the task of helping to organize alumni sessions for the upcoming pilot MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts Alumni Gathering on July 24-26. I’m excited to be part of this effort along with all of you!

One key aspect of our gathering will be sessions that we facilitate throughout the weekend. What kinds of things would you like to share or reconnect with your fellow alumni? What kinds of experiences, skills, or conversations do you want to have?

Given the experimental nature of this pilot, the range of potential sessions is especially broad; I encourage you to think creatively about how to bring what you’ve done post-graduation to the community. You’ll have at least two options (see below) for sharing during the weekend. The spaces available for alumni sessions will be the Manor Oak Room, outdoor garden spaces, and the Tennis Court, which will have a tent over it.

Submit a Session Proposal:

Facilitate a session that we’ll schedule into the weekend programming. You can submit your proposal here. Proposals are due by Sunday, June 12.

Make a PechaKucha Presentation:

Give a PechaKucha-style presentation (20 slides at 20 seconds each), which will be part of a series of such presentations. These do not need to have proposals submitted ahead of time, but of course they’ll be more limited in terms of potential interaction with session participants.

A Note on Timing

I also want to acknowledge that the overall timeline for this pilot is tighter than ideally it would be. There will be an opportunity to learn more about the making of this pilot at the gathering itself as part of a reflection session. For now, please know that those of us working to organize the alumni weekend know that it’s an important part of the MFAIA program’s future. Of course, your part in that is crucial.

Please do reach out with any questions or concerns. Thanks all, and I look forward to touching base again soon!

Best,

-Tyson Pease
