Goddard/PEN North American Scholarship 2018 Winner

Goddard College is pleased to congratulate Steven Dunn, recipient of the 2018 Goddard/PEN North American Scholarship, and second-place awardee Maša Sukovic. Ten additional scholarship candidates will receive Engaged Artist Awards of $2,000 each: PEN America members Amy Barnes, Lisa Chambers, Will Duprey, Ron Estrada, Brian Jackson, Jo Manu Maltzman, Sarah Monahan, Jay Sheets, and Rachel Spalding; and PEN Canada member Magdalen Bowyer.

Kenny Fries and Douglas A. Martin’s Firecracker Nods!!

  The Firecracker Awards are given each year to celebrate the best of independent and self-published literature.  This year, faculty members Kenny Fries and Douglas A. Martin are both nominated in the non-fiction category for their books, Acker a critical study of writer Kathy Acker by Douglas and In the Province of the Gods, a journey through Japan, by Kenny.  

Rogelio Martinez, Goddard MFA Faculty Member, Receives Guggenheim Fellowship

Rogelio Martinez, Goddard MFA Faculty Member, received a  2017 Guggenheim Fellowship. Rogelio was born in Sancti-Spiritus, Cuba and arrived in the United States on the Mariel boatlift in 1980. As a Guggenheim Fellow, Martinez plans to return to Cuba for the first time since 1980 to research his newest play.
