BA student Matthew Rethaber (IBA ’16) received an unusual scholarship this past summer: The American Dance Festival Bus Drivers’ Scholarship. The experience enabled Matthew to meet a multitude of international choreographers -he was their bus driver for a month in Durham, North Carolina!
Matthew, a seasoned photographer interested in the use of gesture within modern dance, found a collaborator at the Festival – the Spanish choreographer Laila Tafur.
As part of his Goddard studies, Matthew’s interest in photography and gesture has now expanded into making feature stories for dance publications; he is also exploring dance criticism.
